Here's the deal with my politics. I believe the greatest good should be enjoyed by the most people. The United States is a shining light to the world as an example of what can be achieved in a nation that cherishes Freedom and offers Opportunity to its citizens. I am proud to be an American. America is the greatest country in the world.
But those lofty ideals we Americans cling dearly to, Freedom and Opportunity, make fairly and justly governing a nation of more than 300 million people spread out over 3.79 million square miles and with 50 subdivisions that have their own governments a challenge as large as the human and geographic elements involved. And we try to do it with a two party system that elects 435 Congressmen and 100 Senators who will make decisions that effect over 300 million people. A daunting task to say the least and that is without the erosion of our lofty ideals that comes with the power struggles and corruption that comes with the territory when so few govern so many.
400 years ago, Aristotle stated that Democracy is the lowest form of Government, essentially saying that it is indeed "the inmates running the asylum." He also said that a Benevolent Monarch was the highest form of government. An enlightened and just Supreme Ruler who will protect the welfare of all his subjects will bring the greatest good to the most people.
Well folks, here we are 2400 years later and The United States may have just had a Presidential election that may provide a live test lab for both of Aristotle's theories. And I am going to have something to say about it as the experiment(s) move forward. That Freedom thing.
One of my idols is Will Rogers. I hope that I can do with five lines of doggerel what Will could do with his folksy "telling it like he sees it" approach of making his opinions known without expressing anger and hostility that stirred up a hornets nest. We have already seen too much of that in the last six months from both sides.
Donald Trump is my President. I want him to do well as a leader and fix things that need to be fixed so that the greatest good will be distributed amongst the most people. He is unconventional. He TWEETS. Refer back to where I get my punchlines. Game on.
December 11,2016 - I was thinking about our President Elect having his Orthodox Jewish son-in-law as one of his closest advisors and his daughter Ivanka having converted to Judaism when this popped in my head.
January 3, 2017 - This one doesn't need a lead in
November 7, 2016 - I will make a prediction about tomorrow, Election Day 2016. I predict there are going to be a lot of people in this country consuming a great deal of booze and weed. Regardless of who wins, America will be in need of a stiff drink and a good buzz. Tomorrow is going to be a numbing experience for many. Which means that America is going to wake up on Wednesday with a hangover.
November 19, 2016 - What I am beginning to sense is that the American people who voted for Donald Trump don’t want a President with a conscience which is needed to lead our great diverse mass society, they want a Godfather who will protect the old neighborhood. Now they are going to find out what the price is for that “protection” and the character of the thugs entrusted to reel in the “tribute” for a Godfather. These are political creatures anxious to make their bones, if they haven’t already. On the street, they are dangerous people, feared, not respected.
Bannon, Flynn, Pompeo and Sessions fit the description and they have all kissed the ring. Now they are being rewarded for their loyalty to the Trumpfather with old neighborhoods that they will get to “protect” through intimidation. Territories called the Justice Department, the State Department and the CIA. Bannon is consigliere.
November 15, 2016 - Boy, was I ever wrong about this one

The Limerick Guy
November 9,2016 - The People have spoken
January 4, 2017 - Trump has figured out two important things that will play heavily on how he communicates with America and The World. He has figured out that he can not control the press. And he has figured out that he may be able to control the news with his tweets
December 2, 2016 - Things like Hope and Change drive markets. This election has left everyone hoping in one way or another and bracing for the change that lies ahead, especially because that change is in the hands of someone who is not a career politician, has chutzpah out the ying yang and charisma that is undeniable. TALK ABOUT BEING A BLIND OPTIMIST AND OVERLY GENEROUS.
February 24, 2016 - It's an election year. Lucky us. 350 million people get to pick the one person to be the leader of the free world.

In addition to winning the Electoral College in a landslide, I won the popular vote if you deduct the millions of people who voted illegally.Type your paragraph here.
